Heavy Metal Test

The parameters that must be met in cosmetic products, based on the guide published by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey, regarding heavy metal impurities in cosmetic products, are as follows:

a) Limit values for cosmetic products:
Lead: 20 ppm
Arsenic: 5 ppm
Cadminium: 5 ppm
Mercury : 5 ppm
Antimony: 10 ppm

b) The highest acceptable limit values for toothpastes are given below:
Lead: 1 ppm
Arsenic: 0.5 ppm
Cadminium: 0.1 ppm

Antimony: 0.5 ppm

It is the responsibility of the manufacturer who places the product on the market to ensure that a finished cosmetic product does not contain heavy metal impurities exceeding the limits specified above, based on the specified parameters. However, the manufacturer must ensure that the raw materials used in the manufacture of the product and the finished product are of appropriate quality and safe, and that they do not pose a risk to consumers.
